Where to Relax in Amsterdam

We all know that studying at VU Amsterdam can be exhausting sometimes, so it's really nice to relax during weekends. In this blog, I'll briefly introduce a place where you can easily recharge your batteries with beautiful nature and lovely animals: Goatfarm Ridammerhoeve, located in Het Amsterdamse Bos. I've been there several times and trust me, it's a hidden gem worth exploring.

After passing through a forest comes the Goatfarm. It might not be massive, but it's cosy. Dozens of goats are kept in sheepfold, along with several horses and cows. Rattan chairs are placed on the grass, with chickens walking around. As I have been living in the city, I feel very fresh about this scent and have the pleasure of being in nature.

There are some visitors on the farm. Because close contact with animals is allowed on this farm, it is a great place for animal lovers (yes, you can pet and feed the goats!)

And wait, there's more: Fuel up at the farm's restaurant, which serves cakes, hamburgers, ice cream, and the list goes on. I bought a strawberry-flavoured ice cream (I highly recommend that!). The staff was also very nice.

Walking out of the restaurant with ice cream, I walk into the nearby forest. The path is flat despite some small pebbles. Because it has rained before, the soil is very soft. There are many fallen leaves on the ground, some are green, and some are yellow and red, forming a beautiful picture. Surrounded by tall trees and a gentle breeze, you'll feel like you've stepped into a fairy tale. And as you listen to the symphony of leaves rustling in the wind, all your worries will simply melt away.

So there you have it – whether you're craving close encounters with animals or yearning to escape from the city to nature, the Goatfarm is an excellent choice!
